Safouane Ben Slama
Born in 1987 in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France.
A graduate in philosophy and exhibition science and techniques from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Safouane is a Franco-Tunisian artist living and working in Paris. After studying theory, he turned to image-making. The notions of the in-between, the threshold and the limit are not foreign to his work. In his series produced in the United States, Palestine, Cuba, North Africa and the Paris suburbs, he explores spaces that question the ideas of margin and territory. His work reveals the traces and gestures of those who occupy these places, particularly those that mark love and tenderness.
His work has been shown at ‘La Boite’ in Tunis, at the Centre d'Art Contemporain de Brétigny and at the Frac Ile-de-France for its 40th anniversary. His work is included in the collections of the Fond d'Art Contemporain de la Ville de Paris and the Frac Ile-de-France. Winner of the Grand Paris photographic commission with the ateliers Médicis and the CNAP. He will be presenting his series 4 saisons at the La Terrasse contemporary art centre in Nanterre, including a showing of his first film.
