Dijana Engelmann
Born in 1989 in Split, Croatia, Dijana Engelmann graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Split and studied at the FH Aachen in Germany. Her work
transcends the boundaries of traditional sculpture, often taking the form of multimedia installations and artistic interventions with a performative dimension. Engelmann explores the boundaries between real and fictional spaces, with a particular focus on transitional spaces as a key theme of dialogue and reinterpretation. Through personal experiences of displacement and living in multicultural contexts, she explores the concepts of space, loss and identity, creating deeply engaged narratives that reflect current social dynamics. Her work redefines the roles of artist and audience, using the creative process as a space for dialogue, reflection and exchange.
Using local materials such as clay from the south of Luxembourg, Engelmann explores the resilience, durability and transformation of materials, linking past and present. Through contextual and site-specific practices, her work opens a dialogue on social, political and environmental issues, calling for a critical reassessment of our relationship with the environment and sustainability.
She currently lives and works in Luxemburg.
