Is science complicated? Is research only for the highly educated? And are the results uninteresting and irrelevant for today? Quite the opposite! These are exactly the prejudices that need to be debunked!

The aim of the workshop is to introduce children and young people to the topic of music research using practical examples. They will become researchers themselves, explore sources, and embark on a detective-like investigation. Without any prior knowledge, participants will dive right into the subject: the natural drive of curiosity serves as motivation to discover the biography and music of a Luxembourgish composer in a unique way.

This way, students discover a new professional field that they rarely encounter in their everyday lives. Archival and source work are freed from their dusty image, making (music) science and research a tangible practice.

The workshop will be conducted in multiple languages. Communication with the students will take place in Luxembourgish, the workshop itself will be in German, and the sources will be in various languages (LU, DE, FR). No prior musical knowledge is required.
Following the "Salon de Helen Buchholtz" (2022) and the "Festival de Wiltz" (2024), this workshop is being offered for the third time. It was developed and conceptualized by Noemi Deitz, funded by the Fondation Sommer, and made available by MuGi.lu (www.mugi.lu).
